RM3000 tax relief VS RM500 tax rebate

It was reported in the news for 2007 there will be a RM3000 tax relief for computer purchases. Previously there was a RM500 tax rebate.

One look and most people will be happy with RM3000 instead of just RM500. Please look at it again. The tax rebate is to be deducted from the amount we need to pay. The tax relief is to be deducted from the income needed to be taxed. If my calculation is correct, that RM500 is of higher monetary value.

In short, this is not good news!
